Our monogram is done!

Yesterday James and I went over to Lauren's House (Maid of Honor) and tried our second attempt at our "save the date" picture. There's a tree across Lauren's yard that looked perfect for the shot (and it was) but it was quite tall. I have a fear of heights and that's a bad recipe when you're sitting on a branch 15 feet up, but it was well worth it.
Our Save the Date should be out within the next couple of weeks. We are so sorry that we can't invite everyone we know. We wish our budget was a little bigger but since it's not, we'll be keeping it intimate and only inviting close family and friends. But we love you all and your support means the world to us.

Today one of my co-workers brought in his new puppy. I'm not usually a fan of small dogs, but look at the cute little thing!

Last night James and I got engaged. Everyone has been really sweet and supportive. We truly appreciate all of your love and well wishes. We honestly couldn't be happier!
Since the story is what everyone wants to hear, I'll go ahead and tell you all here.
James and I were spending the weekend with my grandmother and godmother who came to visit me in Atlanta for the first time. On Saturday morning James was supposed to meet us at my place around 9am. Istead he told me there was a fire and he would be late. The truth was he was picking up the ring because it had just arrived and he just couldn't wait another week to do it.
He picked up the ring and began to write all of the reasons why he wants to spend the rest of his life with me on a card that is nearly 2 feet tall. It's honestly the most heart warming letter/card I have ever read. I dare anyone to get through it without crying.
On Sunday James and I went to church with my family and came home planning to cook for them and watch the Oscars. While James was grilling I was in the bathroom trying on sunglasses and making faces in the mirror. Suddenly I heard my cell phone ring. I ran over to my room and grabbed the phone and saw that James was calling me from the kitchen. I went over to him and asked what was going on. He said, "Oh, I just wanted to see where your phone was." To which I replied, "Why?" At this point he didn't know what to say and was clearly hiding something. I kept nudging him to tell me what was up and he finally gave in and said, "Did you look to see if there was anything next to your phone?"
I went back into the room and turned on the light to see a dozen roses, a cute little plush dog, a huge card and a black little box that sat on my bed. I quickly turned around and said, "Are you serious?! Really?! Seriously is this for real?!" James was in shock and didn't know if my reaction was good or bad. So he simply smiled nervously and told me to open the box. I sat down and told him I thought he was supposed to do that. haha! Somehow I missed this in the excitement, but the ring was never in the box. James had it the whole time.
He got down on one knee and attempted to propose, but his hand was shaking and tears fell from his eyes as the words were leaving his mouth. I would have cried but all I could do was take in the authenticity of this moment where the man who thinks it's funny that I cry during emotional commercials, was overwhelmed by the step we were taking towards a life together. He finally managed to get the words out and I quickly said, "Yes, of course I will!"
We hugged, we kissed, and James read me the 15 minute long card in which he poured his heart out. And of course..... I cried.
Our close friends rushed over to the apartment shortly after. We laughed, we ate and all in all celebrated the new journey we are about to embark on.
That is our story.
It's simply just US.
